Question: How does Recruit work? How did Recruit get my name? Why did I get this letter?
Answer: Recruit deals with over 2000 colleges across the nation. The colleges have informed Recruit of what type of athlete they are looking for. Our teams of national and local scouts travel to different high school sporting events searching for the athletic talent that the colleges are looking for. Once a scout determines that the athlete has the athletic skill to play at the next level, a letter is sent to the athlete at their high school. If you received a letter it was because one of our scouts saw you play and determined that you have the skills needed to play at some collegiate level.
Question: I did not get a letter from Recruit, can I still enroll?
Answer: Yes, just like colleges we may have overlooked you. Maybe you had a bad game or were injured. You can still apply for the free evaluation interview to see if you qualify for our program.
Question: What is the free evaluation interview?
Answer: All athletes must qualify for the Recruit program. Recruit only takes the athletes that have the skill level, desire, attitude and most important the grades to play at the next level. (This interview takes place at the home of the athlete's family at a time that is convenient for your family.) At the end of the interview Recruit will determine if you have the qualities that the colleges we work with are looking for. If you posses those qualities you will be given the option to enroll with Recruit.
Question: How do I set up the free evaluation interview?
Answer: Go to www.recruitzone.com and click on the apply button at the top right corner of the screen. Fill out the form and a representative will be in contact with you to set up a time that is convenient for you and your family. You can also call us toll free 888-284-9227 to set up the interview.
Question: What does it cost to enroll with Recruit?
Answer: Recruit offers a wide array of options and payment plans. You can view them at www.recruitzone.com under the programs and pricing section. Recruit offers a free evaluation interview in order to see if you will qualify both academically and athletically for our program.
Question: What is Recruits success rate?
Answer: Recruit has a nationwide success rate of approximately 85%. What that means is the 85% of the athletes that qualify and enroll with Recruit receive some sort of scholarship offer before they graduate. It's up to the athlete and their family to decide if the offer is good enough to take. In some sports, it is almost 100%, but other sports it may be less. Getting an offer depends on many things, such as when you enroll, what your talent level is, and most importantly your academics.
Question: If I qualify why should I enroll with Recruit?
Answer: The exposure an athlete will receive from our service is one of the biggest advantages. Because Recruit meets and evaluates each athlete we enroll, the colleges know that the information is correct. Imagine having your most up to date information sent to over 2000 colleges across the country multiple times per season.
Question: Why should I enroll in a recruiting service? My coach will help me get recruited.
Answer: We believe that every coach has the intention of helping all of their athletes get recruited to the next level. There's a big difference in helping you get recruited and in actually getting you recruited. There are many athletes out there with similar skill levels going for the same college scholarships. Most colleges look for a specific position to be filled. Recruiting has become a very competitive business, and each year thousands of quality athletes do not receive offers. Your coach's job is to assist in evaluating your skills, work ethics, potential, etc. and when and if a college becomes interested in you provide them with the information they request. Most coached have very few if any college contacts. Recruit has contact with over 2,000 colleges across the country.
Question: If I enroll, how will you promote me to colleges?
Answer: Please access our web page at www.recruitzone.com for a list of services we offer. They are important and should be viewed by every prospect, and especially by each prospect's parents. We are continually adding or improving some services that may not be reflected on this list. Depending on the exposure you are seeking determines the one time enrollment fee Recruit charges.
Question: What do college coaches think about our service?
Answer: Most colleges use our service. Because Recruit qualifies each athlete before offering our service the coaches know the information is accurate and dependable. There are still some "old school" college coaches who still believe that an athlete should be contacting them directly. These coaches are at a great disadvantage in the recruiting process. Most of these "old school" coaches are now adapting to the changing world of information we provide. These coaches now realize that if they are not using our service their rival coaches are. They could miss out on a very qualified and talented student athlete.
Question: I have been told that if you are good enough, college coaches will know about you, and you will not need any more exposure. Is that true?
Answer: This is the most misleading statement we hear. Just because a college knows who you are, doesn't mean they are going to ask you to be a part of their program. Colleges are looking at hundreds of athletes in your area and thousands across the country. Did the colleges know about all the good players that graduated from your school last year? Did all these players get scholarships? And what kind of offers did they receive? Even if they do know of you, do they have your stats, grades, and highlight video right in front of them? Name recognition is only a small step in the recruiting process. Our job is to get you as many offers as possible. Do colleges across the country know who and where your school is? Why settle for the one and only offer you received. Recruit athletes normally receive between 8-10 scholarship offers before they graduate.
Question: When does the college evaluation process start?
Answer: All college evaluation processes are different. Most Colleges want to identify prospects and get scouting information on them as soon as possible. Division I schools, like to identify and follow prospects for several years. The earlier you can get started and the more information you can provide the colleges with, the better chances you have of achieving your academic and athletic goals. Waiting until your senior year to try to attract colleges is a HUGE mistake. It may not be too late for some colleges, but it certainly limits your chances.
Question: I am a high school senior and my season is over. Is it too late?
Answer: It's never too late to try and further your academic and athletic career. Our service continues through your high school graduation. If for some reason you do not take a scholarship and move on to a junior college or community college, Recruit will continue to send your information to the colleges at no additional cost as long as you continue to play your sport.
Question: Is it important to have a personal video?
Answer: It depends on the sport you play. Colleges are not going to offer you a scholarship just because you were recommended by someone. Due to budget and time restraints coaches are not able to see most prospects in person. This means that they have to depend on videotape in order to evaluate prospects they recruit. If they get a video from the high school coach it is often very poor quality and it may not show your best qualities. In addition time is of the essence. Do you think a college coach is going to wait weeks or make multiple calls to your coach for the video? Of course not, the college will simply move on to the next athlete. In some sports, there will be no video available from the high school. Recruit offers a 7 minute professionally edited DVD which is placed on your Recruit profile for the coaches to view. You will also receive a copy of finished DVD. As part of our service, we make sure that every college coach has the opportunity to view your personal video.
Question: My coach has told me and my parents I may not be good enough to play at the next level.
Answer: How do you know you will not? Your coach or professional instructor is your best recommendation now. Most coaches view talent through Div 1, and Div 2 schools. Recruit deals with colleges from all division levels including junior and community colleges. Some of these schools still have scholarship money to give. It's your job to work hard to improve your skills and get your grades as high as possible.
Question: I am already getting questionnaires from colleges, so why do I need to enroll with your service?
Answer: A questionnaire is only an information form sent out by colleges. It does not mean that you are being recruited by a college. In fact, it is not an official part of the recruiting process. Some colleges will send out a thousand or more questionnaires each year. Do not make the mistake of thinking a college is going to recruit you just because they sent you a questionnaire. If you're interested in the school you should fill out and send back the questionnaire. Just remember there is no guarantee you will hear back from them regarding a scholarship offer.
